Mobile Home Water HeatersMobile home water heaters are NOT the same as those used in site built houses; they are taller and narrower to fit in the space and maintain clearance from the walls. They also cost more than those designed for houses so people are always tempted to make them fit. It can be done, but an inspector who spots it will red tag it at once. It's also a fire hazard!
Many of the major home improvement centers carry mobile home water heaters. Their prices are so low smaller retailers probably can't off nearly as good a price. I recently had to replace the water heater in my own home. I took the "opportunity" to photograph the process and write a detailed description of what, why, and how I did things. What I wrote applies to both manufactured homes and site built homes so I published water heater installation as a standalone sites. If you are having water heater issues I think you will find it helpful.
